Who needs a visa for India

India is a beautiful country filled with color, culture and some of the most unique food you’ll ever come by in the world. Most people wouldn’t think twice about putting it on their travel bucket list! There isn’t any country quite like India!

However, some countries need more paperwork than others so they can travel around India. India has different policies for different countries. When you add there are different types of travel visas to apply for, then you could find yourself confused and discouraged. But don’t worry! By the end of this article, you’ll know who needs a visa for India.

There are three different types of travel visas we will be looking at today: visa-free, visa on arrival, and e-visa. Each of these types will be what you could possibly need if you’re looking to get a visa in India.

Visa-Free

Visa-free is exactly how it sounds. These countries don’t need a visa to travel to India.

  • Bhutan
  • Maldives
  • Nepal

Bhutan and Nepal don’t have a limitation on how long they stay in India. The Maldives, however, has a 90-day limit. There is a catch to this. If any traveler is arriving from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Maldives, or Pakistan. Otherwise, you’ll need to pre-arrange your visa before you come to India. If you’re from one of these countries, you’re not who needs a visa for India! Congratulations!

Visa on Arrival

A Visa on Arrival needs to be arranged at least five days before you go to India. The cost is about sixty American dollars. It’s valid for thirty days, and it’s a single-use visa. If you exit the country on that visa, you can’t re-enter the country for at least two months. And then you can return. However, a Visa on Arrival is only available twice a calendar year.

These countries need a Visa on Arrival

  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Cambodia
  • Finland
  • Laos
  • Luxembourg
  • Myanmar
  • New Zealand
  • Philippines

However, if a citizen is of Pakistani or Bangladeshi origins, they can’t get a Visa on arrival. There are more countries added here.

E-Visa

The e-Visa is similar to a Visa on Arrival. You need to apply for it at least four days before your trip to India. The visa is valid for a year when it’s issued, but you can’t stay for longer than 90 days unless you’re on a business visa. Only Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States can stay longer than 90 days. The cost of the visa depends on which country you live in. Who needs a visa for Inda

To apply for your visa, you need to go to the Indian government website. Don’t forget to provide a picture of yourself for the application! When you’ve been approved for the visa you’ll get a message letting you know when your visa will be put in the mail. Have a great trip!
